Bears of Hope

Bears of Hope is an Australian not-for-profit organisation that provides support to those grieving the death of a baby, whether through miscarriage, TFMR, stillbirth or infant loss. One of the many functions of Bears of Hope which allows bereaved families to create a lasting legacy for their children, is the fundraising for Cuddle Cots.

During our hospital stay with both Hughie and Teddy, we were very grateful to have access to a Cuddle Cot, albeit a very old version. A Cuddle Cot is a cooling system within a bassinet that keeps the baby cool. Keeping baby cool slows the rate of deterioration and allows the family to spend much needed time with their child before saying goodbye. Without access to a Cuddle Cot, baby would have to be taken to the hospital morgue to stay cool before being brought back to the parents to spend a short time together. A Cuddle Cot stays in the hospital room so the family can spend every second together with their baby for as long as they wish. Sadly, not every hospital has access to a Cuddle Cot which costs $6,500 each.

Through our fundraising page we have so far funded and donated 5 cuddle cots, providing the greatest gift we can give a family experiencing this heartbreak - the gift of time.
